horse sculpture

I never did name this sucker.
I have a lot of in progress images that I never got around to uploading, but here is the finished piece. I have one other shot of a different angle that I will upload next.

It's very large; the wooden base is 10 ft by 5ft, and the beam at the top that supports all those strings is more than 10 ft tall.
There are 364 monofilament strings on there, all hand tied to the top and bottom. That was a hellish time of knot tying, let me tell you.
I had to purchase 400 eye hooks to attach the strings to the arches on the base. (I wanted to be able to tighten the strings and the eye hooks let me do that like a guitar). The horse in the strings (yes that's a horse. Look at him canter. ) is made out of Plexiglas, covered in parafin wax. (I cut 1.5 inch squares, glued them together 9 layers thick, ground down the pieces to a rounded shape, cut a slit in each one with the band saw, dipped them in wax and finally attached them to the strings.
